Bridges Explanation

Why do people build bridges

People wonder when they drive past or when they see the bridge
open and close repeatedly  like doors shutting when you walk in and out.

The reason why people build bridges is because people can go
mode faster to there destination and there is no traffic lights.
Another reason why is because you can see a better view of the sea.

People also wonder what kind of bridges there are and there
is an arch bridge, brooklyn bridge, golden gate bridge, suspension
bridge but for it to be a bridge it needs something to protect or stable the bridge.

People wonder why would they take all there time to just build a
bridge but they build the bridge for many reasons and how can
boats go past but they never remember that bridges can open and
close.

People now know why people build bridges and it is important
why we have bridges.

Today for writing we got to finished off our explanation about bridges. What I did was I explained in different parts about bridges. What I also did was write what kind of bridges there were.

Sentence illustration

For writing we got to do a colon task. What we did was grab a sentence and do a illustration and we also did a DLO to explain where colons go. What I really like about my DLO is how I got to explain what colons are.

Sensory Verbs

Today we played a quiz. This quiz was kind of tricky to play. I got everything right and I was very happy because in my head it means that I know what are sense and verbs. If you want to play the quiz or learn more it would be at the bottom of the blurb.

Explanation - Analogue Clock

Analogue Time

How can we understand time on an analogue clock? Well analogue clock can contain many parts. These parts can be on a clock or a watch but now we need to get a good explanation to answer the question “How can we understand time on an analogue clock?”

 First you need to learn about the face on a watch or a clock. What the face is it is the front of the clock or on a watch and it has the numerals, in other words, numbers on it and the hands. The face for the analogue can be small or big and that's because it can be on a clock or a watch. 

 Next I will be guiding you through why we have the hands on a clock or a watch. The reason why we have a short hand, a long hand and a second hand is because it is showing us if it is past or to. Now I am going to talk about numerals. 

The numerals on a clock or watch is the numbers to tell you the time. For example 9:15 but people wonder how you can tell the time if it's a two digit number? You can see that when the hand goes past the one digit number than you know it becomes a two digit number like how three becomes fifteen. 

Now you can have a good explanation on why it is easy to tell the time for an analogue clock.

For writing my group has been working on a explanation about an analogue clock. What we got to do was explain how you can tell time on an analogue clock. What I did was explain the three parts that is on a watch or a clock.What I really like about this explanation is that it gives you heaps of detail.

our learning for today was make a poem for writing. What we did was we got to make a poem on a word and than write work. The word I used was stunning and than I used synonyms in other words similar word to match stunning. What I really like about this poem is that I got to be creative with it and I also wrote a joke in my poetry as well.

Simile and Metaphor

Today we got to finish of are work on simile and metaphor. What we did was we got to make on up of search one up. The one I have chosen is as cold as ice (Simile) and for the Metaphor I chose as cold ice. What I did was try to draw ice and compare it to real ice. What I really like about this DLO is that I got to draw a picture of what I think a ice looks like. What a simile is is when people use a like or as in there sentence and what a metaphor is when people don't use like or as in there sentences. E.g when people are writing there story like doing an explanation or a setting describe. 

The Tunnel Of The Unknown

The Tunnel of the unknown…..

There was a girl stuck in the dark, scary, black Tunnel. her name was Emily.
Emily was a strange student at her school.
Her parents couldn’t ask her if she needed help on her tests because
she would always disappear at school and before they came home from work.
when Emily runs away while the dark blue sky is out she tries to find a secret
hideout. But one night she entered a dark forest. The moon was shining down
and starts shimmering with light. The view was stunning and a sudden light shined
towards the tunnel.

Today we got to finish a setting describer on a picture called Tunnel. What we did for this was we got to write a setting describe on the picture and try to put an adjectives and similes and more. What I really liked about this was I got to
write my own setting describer and make it scary and happy.

The Hunted Adventure No Return

The haunted adventure no return!!!

There was a girl who enjoyed going to the library, her name was Isabella.

She always got mocked in other words by bullies.

After school she would always go to her favourite place the library,

because no one could touch or mock her. She would always go to the library

and issue more than one book. After the library she would always go to her

very own secret hideout, where she kept all of her books. The book she really

likes is Harry potter or Alice  in wonderland. But when she reads it she always

finds a mystery and she tries to find out more about it. Than she heard there was

this haunted library with books no one has never seen before.

This just wanted Isabella

to find out more about this spooky library.

But when both of her feet touched the dirty

sticky carpet there was no turning back. But Isabella was trying to open t

he doors

but it didn’t work so she tried to say help me help me but than she died.

So she

gave up and no one saw her ever again.  That was the end of Isabella life

for all eternity.

Our learning today was writing. What we did for writing was we got to do a charter description. What we did was we got to describe a young girl with heaps of books around her. What my charter description is about is a young girl who would always get bullied and who went to a creepy libaray. What I really like about this is that I got to make my one about her having a happy life but than turning it into a scary life. 

Tense - Past , Present and future

Our learning for today was writing. What my group did for writing is tense. What we learnt was past , Present and Future. What we did was we had to fill in the spaces and write it in blue. What I really like about this was I got to learn more about the tense. The tense I really like is the past tense. The reason why I like the past tense is because I find it more easier.

The lost yet found

The Lost Yet Found

David was lost in the forest.
He was scared and tired because he had been walking for a long time.
David had a map but he didn’t know where he was, so he couldn’t find
where he was on the map.
He just decided to continue walking until he found somewhere to stay.
Being lost in the middle of the forest wasn't David's favourite thing in the world.

Today we got to make a charter description on a picture that was called
The lost Yet Found. What I really like about this is that I got to make a writing
story and I also tried to make it sound really interesting.

Chinese New Year Explanation

Chinese New Year is special to the Chinese culture because everyone comes
together to celebrate and spend time with each other. Each year is named
after an animal.This year is the year of the dog. The dog represents
responsibility and seriousness.  

Chinese New Year is when all the families come together as one. They make
egg rolls, shrimp and noodles. In China the egg rolls represent the bars of
gold, the shrimp represent the happiness and the noodles represent long life
(if the noodle is long that means you will have a long life but if you cut it
you will have a short life). During this festival people give
Hong Bao to children and unmarried adults. In this red envelope there is
money to symbolize good luck and wealth.

People around the world celebrate Chinese New Year on the first
new moon of the year (which lasts for 15 days). On the last day they
light their lanterns to remember the ones who have passed on and to keep the
bad spirits away.

Each year we celebrate one of the 12 animals of the Chinese New Year.
There are 12 animals because the Jade Emperor didn’t know which animal to
choose so he set a race to see which order the years would be celebrated in.
This year we’re going to be celebrating the year of the earth dog. If there is a
person born in 2018 he/she might have the personality of an earth
dog, eg: would be responsible and serious.   

Chinese New Year brings people together. They decorate their houses in red
and gold, light fires, let of fireworks and wear red to continue to keep Nian,
the monster away.

Our learning today is about the Chinese New Year and how this festival is celebrated. We worked with a partner to write notes and then use those notes to write an explanation. Viva and I were worked together to do this task collaboratively. We used a new word Mrs Anderson taught us to help us plan our writing and the word was TIIC. What the word stands for is title, introduction, information and conclusion. What I really like about this is that I got to learn about information that I never knew about Chinese New Year and i now know why people wear the colour red, use fireworks and bang the drum to make loud noises during this time.

Morning Routine - Explanation

What I do in the morning. What time I usually finish doing my thing . What’s my favourite thing to do in the morning.

Morning Explanation

Sunrises and my eyes start to open. I feel a warm embrace by the sunlight shining up over me.

Everyday I have a morning routine. In my morning routine:

• I wake up.
• I watch t.v.
• I get into the shower.
• I get change.
• I pack my bag with I need to bring to school.
• Than I walk to school.

When I finish doing all the important things I check the time so I can rush or I can take my time. When I get ready for school I always check the time for each thing I will have to do.

My favourite thing to do when I always get ready is when I get changed for school because I know what I need and what I need to put on.

Now the sunset is down and my eyes are closing before themselves and my morning routine is down and now I can go to school and learn new things.

  

Our learning yesterday was about an explanation that I made on a Google Doc about what I do in the morning. On the top I have three sentences that is giving away a bit of my three paragraphs. What I really like about this Google Doc is that It has information about what I do in the morning and because it is an explanation. If you do not know what a explanation it is when you explain the subject that is your title in a introduction,three paragraphs and a conclusion you can also use onomatopoeia or metaphor and more.

Guess where am I?

Our learning today was that we got to do recount on what we did in the holidays. The 7 sentences got to have was I heard,I saw,I felt and I wondered. What I really like about this is that I got to pick what I have done in the holidays. 

Two word sentences

Our focus for today was to do this challenge for writing and it was all about two word sentences. What we did was we got to pick a Two word sentence from a list one of them was I'm sorry so I had decide to choose it. What I liked about this challenge is that we got to put the two word sentence and put it into a compound,complex and simple sentence.

complete the contractions

Our focus for today was writing. What we had to do is complete two task. One was Complete the contractions and the other one is show the possession. The task I have picked to post was Complete the contractions To show you guys what a complete contraction is. 

Idiom

Our Focus for today for writing is on idioms. What we had to do is  make a DLO about 8 examples of an idiom and than we had to put one idiom and write the meaning and a example. My Idiom is icing on the cake. 

Similes

This will show you  what I have been doing for writing and what I have been learning to. This will show you  what a simile is. You  maybe be wondering what a simile is well a simile is when you compare two things together using the words 'like' or 'as'. If you do not know what a simile looks like than my presentation will explain what they are.

Flying Kiwi

On the 23rd of March in the afternoon my class got to pick which camp activity we would like to go back to and I picked flying kiwi over the other activities. When I got there I wanted to go back to the deck because I was so scared but it was too late. I got my number I was about to go first.But I did not want to so my friend switch places with me so I was second. I was so happy I could jump up and down.

When it was my turn and I went to put my harness on it was too late to run back to the deck.So when Joe the instructor said am I ready that is when I know The wings people are  going to pull me up and when Joe was counting from 3 I was scared so he said the 3,2,1 then everyone was pulling me and I was in the air screaming and trying to fly like a bird.

Than it was round two I was so scared.Than I heard the countdown and when it was on 3 they pulled me while I was running and when I got to the air I started to swing in the air back and forward.

Blurb: Today I have been writing a recount about what I have been doing at camp.This recount is about what I did for my last rotation at camp. This was one of my great activity that I did at camp as well. This was a 5 minutes of my snapshot about camp.

Why our blog is unique

Our blogs are interactive  websites where you can see other people’s learning and thinking. Our blogs have a global audience which means it is viewed from lots of places around the world. Are you aware all blogs are not the same?

The blogs we have  keep a record of our learning over time and show what we have been doing in class. They are unique because we post different things. For example people from different countries may have different views, videos and comments than me or you.

Do you want to  know why my blog is unique? My blog shows that I understand what task I was given. When I had to post something on my blog for the first time I was really nervous because I didn't know what people would say about my work.

We were confident enough to write and post our very first blog post.  We learnt how to create and share our  work from our teachers that have been  teaching us from year 4. It is great to share our learning with the global audience.

Have you ever wondered why we have a blog? That is because we are all unique in our own way and we have different thinking to anybody else. Are you aware that you can never throw away your blog but you can throw away your books.

Today I have been working with shakaia on this work sheet. We have been working on why our blogs our unique. Me and shakaia have been writing a Explanation.
